READY PLAYER ONE Movie Holds Contest For Avatar Designs

READY PLAYER ONE is giving artistic fans a chance to be part of the movie!

Steven Spielberg has quite the challenge ahead of him when he brings nostalgia adventure Ready Player One to the big screen. The movie, based off the bestseller by Ernest Cline, follows teenager Wade Watts through a futuristic landscape and the virtual reality world where he spends most of his time, OASIS. In the online utopia will feature avatars rather than the actors themselves, giving the story a whole different element.

Now, graphic artists can enter for a chance to have their own avatars featured in the movie and be part of cinematic history! Check out the huge opportunity, as introduced by the author.

This isn’t some attempt to solicit free art for the film. A minimum of five winners will receive $1,000 for their avatar design and may potentially be featured in the film’s marketing. If their avatar is featured for a small background role, the artist still snags $250.

Ready to get designing? Check out the official site here for all the rules and submission guidelines!

Ready Player One is due to hit theaters on March 29, 2018.

In the year 2044, reality is an ugly place. The only time teenage Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the virtual utopia know as the OASIS. Wade’s devoted his life to studying the puzzles hidden within the confines of this digital world, puzzles that are based on their creator’s obsession with the pop culture of decades past and that promise massive power and fortune to whoever can unlock them. But when Wade stumbles upon the first clue, he finds himself beset by players willing to kill to take this ultimate prize. The race is on, and if Wade’s going to survive, he’ll have to win – and confront the real world he’s been so desperate to escape.
