Warner Bros. makes an unusual, but not so surprising, change for the release date of Steven Spielberg’s READY PLAYER ONE.
For those anticipating the release of Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One, you’ll be able to anticipate one less day since Warner Bros. has decided to push up the release date one day earlier than originally planned.
Normally, as many movie fans know, movies typically opening on Fridays, or Wednesdays for somewhat smaller-budgeted films. For a movie as big as Ready Player One, it was no surprise that it would have a Friday release date. However, Warner Bros. has made a play for a more profitable Easter weekend. With many kids, who are likely to want to watch this appealing sci-fi, YA-book-based film, off from school for Spring Break, that one extra day for the opening weekend will mean strong number for the mega studio.
It was certainly set to pull in strong numbers already, but it will benefit them to have matinee screenings available on Thursday for those Spring Breakers instead of just the Thursday night early screenings that happen for Friday releases. (Weird, I know.)
So for all your movie buffs and book fans, reschedule your day for Thursday if you can! Parzival will be waiting.
Ready Player One openings Thursday, March 29th.
