READY PLAYER ONE VR Experience Will Bring Audiences Into OASIS

OASIS will come to life thanks to an upcoming virtual reality program!

Ready Player One, the 2018 Steven Spielberg adventure based on the novel by Ernest Cline, partially takes place in a virtual world known as OASIS. To promote the film, fans will soon be able to enter an OASIS system of their own!

Warner Bros. and HTC VIVE are developing to create new virtual reality experience that will put users straight into the world of OASIS.

VIVE President Rikard Steiber says the OASIS virtual reality program will be out sometime in 2018 surrounding the film’s release date, though not exact roll out date was announced.

Ready Player One is one of the most anticipated movies in the world, and has tremendous potential to engage and entertain the worldwide market, showcasing the transformative nature of VR, and what it can and will be. Vive is delivering on the promise of VR and continues to be the most advanced and immersive VR experience available to consumers, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with Warner Bros. to bring these experiences to consumers, on all platforms, around the globe.”

If the Warner Bros and VIVE team up can actually take fans into a virtual world comparable to the one we’ll see in the movie, this could be a huge promotional tool and selling point for younger audiences, who won’t necessarily jump on the 80s nostalgia train.

Ready Player One will hit theaters one year for today on March 30, 2018.

In the year 2044, reality is an ugly place. The only time teenage Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the virtual utopia know as the OASIS. Wade’s devoted his life to studying the puzzles hidden within the confines of this digital world, puzzles that are based on their creator’s obsession with the pop culture of decades past and that promise massive power and fortune to whoever can unlock them. But when Wade stumbles upon the first clue, he finds himself beset by players willing to kill to take this ultimate prize. The race is on, and if Wade’s going to survive, he’ll have to win – and confront the real world he’s been so desperate to escape.
