REPORT: First Look At Marvel’s AGENT CARTER At New York Comic Con

Marvel exclusively gave fans at New York Comic Con its first look at AGENT CARTER during their AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. panel tonight!

The panel was hosted by Marvel’s head of television, Jeph Loeb. After discussing the evolution of Marvel television since its announcement at NYCC last year, Loeb stirred up the crowd in a much less positive way by showing off the Hydra t-shirt hidden under his zip-up sweater. But never fear! The booing soon turned to cheers as Director Phil Coulson himself, Clark Gregg, stepped onto the stage.

After a lot of thankfulness and humor, Loeb offered up his apologies to Gregg and the fans by airing this week’s upcoming episode of AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D– a wild romp through Miami in which the team risks it all in an attempt solve Coulson’s dilemma that received an amazing response from the crowd.

But that just wasn’t enough for Clark Gregg. To complete the apology, he insisted that Loeb show fans something from AGENT CARTER. After explaining that there wasn’t much to show because filming only began days ago, Loeb finally cracked, adding “What day is it? Friday? This was filmed on Monday.”

Here’s what we saw:
Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) and Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) arrive at a marina, where Howard boards his speedboat as the two discuss a very dangerous dilemma. Stark’s formula for a rare compound, a small dose of which could easily blow up a city block, has leaked. He’s off to stop the sale of the formula elsewhere, but he’s depending on Carter to cover things in New York. As he leaves, he comments that she’s never had trouble attracting men, to watch she replies “But it’s about finding the right one.” Juuuuust enough to make our hearts break.

Stark leaves her in the hands of his very capable butler, Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy), who’s wit and quirkiness will definitely be a source of humor on the show. Their conversation suggests an interesting, potentially hilarious confrontation between the two earlier in the episode. Jarvis asks Carter what she plans to do, to which she replies “I’ll do my job.”

Cut to a scene of Agent Peggy Carter KICKING SOME ASS. This part was only a couple seconds long but absolutely, 100% glorious.

Needless to say, we’re pretty excited about this show!
