Rob Marshall in Talks to Direct Disney’s Live-Action Remake of THE LITTLE MERMAID

Disney is in talks with Rob Marshall to bring him on to direct their live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. This will mark the fourth Disney Film for Marshall if he accepts, having directed Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011), Into the Woods (2014), and the upcoming Mary Poppins Returns (2018).

Also attached to the project is Lin-Manual Miranda and Alan Menken to write songs for the remake. Menken wrote the music to the 1989 animated version including popular songs like “Under the Sea,” “Part of Your World,” and “Kiss the Girl.” Miranda is also co-producing the movie with Marc Platt and Jane Goldman has penned the script.
