The Gambler director Rupert Wyatt sets his cards on Gambit film
We finally have a director for the much desired Gambit movie, and his name is The Gambler director Rupert Wyatt. Channing Tatum is set to star as the Cajun mutant.
The last we saw of Gambit, or Remy LeBeau, was in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine flick, played by Taylor Kitsch. But really, that movie doesn’t count, right? You barely got to see what makes Gambit Gambit, anyway. So, now we’ll see if this Mike can bring his Magic to the Marvel universe and have people clamoring for more. And Tatum will have help with director Rupert Wyatt at the helm.
Watching the X-Men animated series when I was a kid, I found Remy to be a unique character, with his strong Cajun accent and his ability to use kinetic energy – oh, and maybe that tense romantic relationship with Rogue. I’m not a huge fan of Tatum, although I do find him humorous at times, so I have to admit I’m sure what to think of him playing this character, even despite the character’s reputation as somewhat of a “ladies man.”
Hopefully, under Rupert Wyatt’s direction, this will work. Aside from The Gambler, Wyatt also directed Rise of the Planet of the Apes and The Escapist.
