SDCC Interview: Echo Kellum and Emily Bett Rickards from ARROW

Echo Kellum and Emily Bett Rickards talk Arrow and have fun joking around.

We sat down with Echo Kellum and Emily Bett Rickards Curtis Holt and Felicity Smoak in The CW’s Arrow. The two seem to have a lot of fun together, keeping the interview light without giving away too many details for season 7.

When asked were do we find their characters at the beginning of the season, they hinted that we’d find them at “sand” and “a desert in the middle of the city” and left it up to the fans to decipher their clues.

In regards to how Felicity is as a mother to William, now that Oliver is in prison, Emily explains her thoughts on their relationship and what William has been through.

“She has stepped up to the role as a mother, but also as a friend. The kid [William] isn’t so much a kid, I mean he’s lost a lot, grown up a lot. Every time we start to do scenes with him, I’m like ‘you’re older than we treat you in these scenes’. He has to be older. He’s becoming an adult more rapidly than I became an adult. That character suffered losses and had to grow up.”

Curtis suffered a lot of loss towards the end of last season, and Echo goes into how that will affect him moving forward.

“He’ll stick with it, but he might approach it from a different aspect. I think the loss will not deter him from doing the right thing.”

Arrow season 7 premieres October 15th.
