SDCC Interview: Roundtable with Jessica Parker Kennedy from THE FLASH

Jessica Parker Kennedy gives us the scoop on Nora’s relationship with her parents and her big mistake!

The Flash Season 4 ended with a surprise visitor: Barry and Iris’ daughter Nora, who’s come from the future and needs their help. At San Diego Comic-Con, Jessica Parker Kennedy gave us the scoop on Nora’s relationship with her parents, her big secrets, and joining the show.

After that major cliffhanger, the actress says to fans won’t have to wait too long for answers once everything starts back up. “Early on, we’re going to figure out what the big mistake is that Nora has made. We’re not going to have to wait too long for that.”

That’s not to say all of Nora’s secrets spill instantaneously. For one, what’s the deal with her and Iris? “She really reveres her father, but there’s definitely something off between her and her mom.”

Jessica also talked about her responsibility to the fans and adjusting to a permanent place on Team Flash. “It’s a little intimidating. When I think about all the people who watch the show and all the people invested in the show, it’s a little bit scary… Everyone has been so welcoming and really embraced me. I’ve had no initiation process, they’ve just been really nice to let me slide on in. It’s such a lovely place to go to work every day.”

The cast isn’t very far into Season 5 filming and it seems Nora has mostly been focused on her parents, but Jessica hopes that changes a bit and she gets more time with the rest of the ensemble cast.

“I really hope as the season goes that I have the opportunity to have one-on-ones with a lot of them … It’s a very selfish request, but I want to have one-on-one time with Dibny and Cisco and Caitlin. I just think that would be so special to see what Nora’s like with all of them and what they’re like with her.”

It seems we’ll see Nora in action alongside The Flash, since she’s a speedster. Just a speedster? Right? “She’s a something. There’s stuff,” Jessica laughs. “Ya know? There’s stuff.”

The Flash Season 5 premieres on The CW on Tuesday, October 9, 2018.
