LOTR’s Sean Astin and others to join STRANGER THINGS Cast for season 2

STRANGER THINGS adds a hobbit, a New York City newlywed, and a young, Danish newcomer for the shows’ second season.

We already know that Millie Bobby Brown will be returning to Stranger Things to reprise her role as Eleven, but this time around, it seems she’ll have more company. Let’s meet the three new cast members and the characters they’ll be playing.

Sean Astin as Bob Newby

Bob is “a kindhearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) and now manages the local Hawkins RadioShack.”

Sean is probably most known for his roles as Mikey in the 1985 movie The Goonies, and as Samwise Gamgee in the epic Peter Jackson’s movie adaptation of The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Paul Reiser as Dr. Owens

Dr. Owens is “a high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a ‘clean-up’ assignment, tasked with containing the events of last year.”

Paul is known for his role as Paul Buchman in the 90s NBC series Mad About You, and 1986’s Aliens as the money-hungry Carter Burke. He was recently seen in the Oscar-nominated movie Whiplash.

Linnea Berthelsen as Roman

Roman is “an emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child. Although she does not live in Hawkins, she is mysteriously connected to the supernatural events at the lab…”
