The addition of Nick Sagar to the SHADOWHUNTERS cast will leave fans curious about his character’s motivation.
It was recently announced by Deadline that the folks behind the Shadowhunters series have cast actor Nick Sagar for a recurring role. Sagar will be playing the role of Victor Aldertree, a “charming Clave Representative who arrives at the New York Institute in the aftermath of Jace’s (Dominic Sherwood) departure with Valentine (Alan Van Sprang).”
Although there is indeed a Victor Aldertree in the books that the series is based off of, the character was presumably quite older than that of Jace, Clary, and the other young Shadowhunters. He was also described as short, round, and bald. And Sagar is definitely not any of those things, as shown by the image below.
It’s not surprising that they would age down the character, as there are often changes that stray from the original source material. Despite upcoming changes, though, the first season of Shadowhunters ended off strong, and this addition could help build it up from there. It also doesn’t hurt to know that, according to one of his demo reels, he has at least some martial arts training.
It hasn’t been specified how his appearance in the New York Institute will affect our young group of demon hunters, but if it’s anything like his character in the books, this will most certainly be a problem for Clary, Jace, Alec, Isabelle, and Simon.
Nick Sagar has been on TV and film in the U.K. and can be seen in the movie Ill Manors, as well as the fourth season of Tyler Perry’s The Haves and the Have Nots on OWN.
