Deadline also has some major news following Ed Decter’s sudden departure from the top spot last week, just before production began. Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer, the showrunners behind the very successful Superman-based show Smallville, have been tapped to helm the show moving forward. Matt Hastings from The Originals has joined as an executive producer and director for Season 2.
Shadowhunters is expected back on Freeform in January 2017.
