‘Shadowhunters’ won Best New Fandom at the MTV Fandom Awards!
Although the annual MTV Fandom Awards don’t air until Sunday night, we already know some of the winners from the awards show, which took place earlier tonight at San Diego Comic Con. Through the power of social media, we’ve learned that Shadowhunters won big, taking home the award for Best New Fandom.
Katherine McNamara (Clary Fray), Emeraude Toubia (Isabelle Lightwood) and Dominic Sherwood (Jace Wayland) were all in attendance tonight at the awards, and both Kat and Emeraude posted this photo on their Instagram, expressing their excitement over the win:

This category was a tough one, with Shadowhunters up against Broadway smash-hit Hamilton, Jessica Jones, Mr. Robot, Scream, and Suicide Squad.
Shadowhunters follows Clary Fray, an eighteen-year-old art student who is swept up into the world of the Shadowhunters, an ancient race of half-angel half-humans who protect the world from demons, when her mother is kidnapped by a dark Shadowhunter. But as Clary joins forces with the Shdowhunters to find her mother, she starts to realize things about herself, and their world, that could threaten them all.
The second season of the Freeform hit show is expected to air in early 2017, with the cast just recently starting to shoot in Toronto.
I know I am immensely proud to be a member of the Shadowhunters fandom right now, and I can’t wait to see who else has taken home the iconic golden statue when the MTV Fandom Awards air this Sunday, July 24th at 8|7c on MTV.
