Shannara Chronicles’ Austin Butler talks CARVE THE MARK Audio Book

Meet the voices of the two major characters in Veronica Roth’s CARVE THE MARK audio book, Austin Butler and Emily Rankin.

Audio books are a great alternative for those who spend more time on the road listening than in a chair reading. And having the right people portraying the character’s voices really helps engage the listener in the story. So, it was exciting to find out who’ll be playing major characters Akos and Cyra in Veronica Roth’s upcoming sci-fi novel, Carve the Mark.

Austin Butler is an actor who has been seen on several teen shows, including Switched at Birth, and The Carrie Diaries. He is currently involved in MTV’s fantasy series The Shannara Chronicles as Will Ohmsford. In Carve the Mark, he voices Akos.

Akos is from the  peace loving Thuvhe nation. He and his brother are captured by the more aggressive Shotet people, and he’s desperate to get them both out alive. Akos has a gift that could actually help one of the Shotet from feeling pain, but will he help her or hurt her?

Emily Rankin is an accomplished and Award winning narrator for several audio books, co-author of the manga series Laddertop, as well as the creator for the web short Jane Austen’s Fight Club.

Cyra is the sister of the brutal tyrant who rules the Shotet people. Her currentgift causes her to be in constant pain and to inflict pain on anyone she touches—so her brother uses her as a weapon to torture his enemies. But Cyra is much more than just a blade in her brother’s hand: she is resilient, quick on her feet, and smarter than he knows.
