SHERLOCK’s “The Abominable Bride” featurette takes us back through time!
Sherlock fans have waited nearly two years of new content featuring our dear Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, but we’ll finally be getting more tomorrow! “The Abominable Bride” special will air as part of BBC and BBC America’s New Years Day 2016 celebrations and the mystery is looking more exciting than ever as the characters meet all over again in the Victorian era to discover the secrets behind a haunting!
Before it airs, the show has released a new featurette that details the work that went into time traveling back to the 19th century for a completely different look and feel. The cast and crew also dive into the challenges of having the characters meet for the first time once again, but with lots of changes.
Official Episode Synopsis:
“Dr John Watson, meet Mr Sherlock Holmes.”
We’ve been here before – but what if this wasn’t the modern day but the late Victorian period? What if the world’s most famous consulting detective and his best friend lived in a Baker Street of steam trains, hansom cabs, top hats and frock-coats?
Welcome to ‘Sherlock’ in 1895!
Some things, though, remain reassuringly the same. Friendship, adventure and especially, MURDER…
Why is Thomas Ricoletti a little surprised to see his wife dressed in her old wedding gown? Because, just a few hours before, she took her own life…Mrs Ricoletti’s ghost now appears to be prowling the streets with an unshakeable thirst for revenge. From fog-shrouded Limehouse to the bowels of a ruined church, Holmes, Watson and their friends must use all their cunning to combat an enemy seemingly from beyond the grave and the final, shocking truth about… the Abominable Bride!
If this one special isn’t nearly enough Sherlock for you, fear not! The cast is due to begin filming Season 4 in the spring and new episodes are expected to be out later in 2016, though an official air date has not yet been released.
