Simon talks himself out of a dilemma in a new SHADOWHUNTERS clip!

Remember when Simon’s mom caught him drinking blood straight from a rat in his room during the first half of Season 2 of Shadowhunters? Raphael swooped in and used his vampire skills to make her forget, but it turns out there was a bit more to the story!

In a new deleted scene from the next episode, the police barge into Simon’s apartment to arrest him, because it turns out his mom called 911 before Raphael could get to her. It’s up to Simon to convince them that there’s nothing to see here before having a quick chat with Raphael.

It’s easy to see why the scene was cut– Police officers don’t exactly burst through anyone’s door and run to arrest them because of one phone call that could be unsubstantiated. And drinking rat’s blood, while disgusting and not a good sign, probably isn’t an actual offense. Or the explanation could be much simpler: The showrunners just decided it didn’t add much to the storyline.

Still, we’ll take a little extra foreboding chatter between Simon and Raphael!
