It’s been announced via E!Online that singer Shawn Mendes will appear in The 100‘s season 3 premiere. We reported earlier this year that the Canadian singer was pretty vocal (via Twitter) about his interest in being on the show and that executive producer Jason Rothenberg had heard his plea.
Now we will get to see the result of whatever interaction was held between the two.
“Shawn is a big fan of the show, and reached out to me on Twitter about potentially working together,” executive producer Jason Rothenberg tells E! News. “He’s a very talented artist, and we knew we wanted to do something special and different for the premiere. Shawn gave us a unique opportunity and I can’t wait for our fans to see our collaboration.”
I really do not think we’ll get a very special musical edition of The 100, but from what Rothenberg said, it does seem we’ll get to hear Mendes either sing or play. But who knows what context this exactly will be in, especially considering how dark this world is.
According to E!Online, he’ll be playing an Arker who gets into a “tricky situation and uses his particular talents to get out of it.”
For now, check out the acoustic edition of his popular song, Stitches, which he sings alongside actress Hailee Steinfeld (Ender’s Game).
