Pixar released a preview of their latest short, titled Bao, which will air ahead of Incredibles 2 in theaters. The short story is about a Chinese-Canadian woman saddened at her empty nest, who gets a second shot at motherhood when one of her handmade dumplings comes to life. Watch the teaser below:

Bao is directed by storyboard artist Domee Shi, the first female director of a short in Pixar’s history. Shi explains how her personal life inspired the story:
“Often times it felt like my mom would treat me like a precious little dumpling, wanting to make sure I was safe, that I didn’t go out late, all that stuff. I just wanted to create this magical, modern-day fairy tale, kind of like a Chinese Gingerbread Man story. The word ‘bao’ actually means two things in Chinese: Said one way, it means steamed bun. Said another, it means something precious. A treasure.”
You can see the full short before Incredibles 2 when it hits theaters June 15, 2018.
