Sony’s Marvel Movie VENOM Starts Production

Tom Hardy is all smiles in the first photo from day one of the production of Sony’s Marvel Universe movie VENOM.

It’s happening, fans! Production has started for Venom, the Marvel character that many fans have been waiting on a movie for, especially since we got a taste of him in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3.

But this Eddie Brock is going to be a lot different than the Sam Raimi version, who was played by Topher Grace.

For one, the movie is planning for an R-rating, which Sony probably relented to doing after the success of Fox’s Deadpool. And rightly so, due to the nature of the character and its aggressive tendencies when the symbiote decides to connect with a rather troubled host, which can be said about Eddie Brock.

Tom Hardy will be playing Eddie/Venom, and although we don’t really want to consider Venom as a full-on supervillain, he’s an antihero at best. Hardy sure seems to fit that description well, especially after his role as Mad Max in Fury Road.

So, it’s exciting to see the first image from day one of filming, which was first releasd from the movie’s official Twitter account:

Obviously, there’s nothing spoilery about the image, but it’s good to see that Tom looks happy to be on set for this movie. We definitely can’t wait to see what he brings to this complicated character.

Venom is being directed by Ruben Fleischer and is scheduled to land in theaters October 5, 2018.
