Star Trek 3 casts Sofia Boutella, who played in the Kingsman: The Secret Service as Gazelle, a super-fast, super-hot, blade-legged assassin, for a lead role in the popular sci-fi franchise. The movie is being directed by Justin Lin, known for the Fast and Furious movies, with a script written by both Doug Jung (Dark Blue) and Simon Pegg.
Simon Pegg, who will also reprise his role as Scotty, a role he’s owned since 2009’s re-imagining of Star Trek (directed by J.J. Abrams,) is not a stranger to screenplays, as he wrote the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy – Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End – as well as a handful of other British movies and TV series, including Spaced, Run, Fatboy, Run, and Paul. This, however, might be the first time he’s written something that’s not comedy-based, so it’ll be interesting to see what they come up with, since they also have a new director in Lin.
