Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern confirmed for STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII!
With production already under way, Variety has the scoop on some new casting for the yet-to-be-named Star Wars: Episode VIII!
After months of rumors, Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro is confirmed for a role in the film. Popular whispers suggest he’ll be a new villain thrown into the mix. Del Toro is famous for his portrayal of morally questionable characters in films like Traffic, 21 Grams, Sicario, and Sin City. You may also know him as The Collector in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise!
Laura Dern, best known for her role in the original Jurassic Park trilogy, has also joined the project. The veteran actress received Oscar nominations for her roles in Rambling Rose and Wild.
But perhaps the most exciting news? We have another newcomer on board!
Meet Kelly Marie Tran, who joins the franchise in an unspecified role. Star Wars brought talented relative unknowns John Boyega and Daisy Ridley to the forefront, so we’re pretty enticed by another newcomer joining the fray!
Star Wars: Episode VIII is due out on December 15, 2017.
