Disney XD plans Lego-Style Star Wars Retelling
We all know the story of Star Wars, and with the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we’re looking forward to seeing more of that universe. But before we do, Lego and Disney have come up with a way of retelling the previous six movies in a new way; it’s time for a Lego-style retelling of the Star Wars saga!
The Hollywood Reporter has reported that this retelling will consist of five twenty-two minute Lego-style episodes later this year. And I’m sure it will be amazing, and maybe even better than the movie versions of episodes I, II, and III! I mean, they can’t be worse, right? It’s Lego!
But it really is a retelling as, if you remember in Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi, there’s a scene in which C-3P0 and R2-D2 are narrating the story of what happened in Episode IV: A New Hope to the Ewok tribe. In probably a similar fashion, it’s C-3P0 and R2-D2 that will be telling the story of all six episodes thus far.
Set after the Rebel Alliance victory on Endor seen at the end of Return of the Jedi, the droids are regaling the assembled of their adventures that led them to their present situation. An accidental kidnapping leads to a new adventure that progresses to the re-telling of the saga in the chronological order, starting from The Phantom Menace to Return of the Jedi.
Lego and Disney XD have not released any other information at this time about airdates and who will be directing these episodes, but you can check out the Star Wars Lego chart that was revealed at this year’s Toy Fair.
