STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS poster focuses in on Rey and Finn!
Over the past few days, there have been rumors of a new poster for Star Wars: The Force Awakens being posted today. It has also been rumored that the new (and final) trailer for the film would be aired tomorrow night during Monday Night Football on ESPN. This morning, the official Star Wars page confirmed both rumors to be true with this post:
The dark side and the light together on the new official poster. Tune in to ESPN’s Monday Night Football tomorrow for an exclusive new look at STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS.
Here is the poster:
Isn’t this poster absolutely awesome? I think it is. It keeps the aesthetic of the previous six films while giving us a sense newness. It also gives us some things to speculate about, namely the placement of Daisy Ridley’s character, Rey. It’s long been speculated that Rey is the daughter of Han Solo and Princess (or whatever she is now) Leia, which would make her a descendent of the Skywalker family which, according to Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, will still be the main focus of the new trilogy, continuing the name “Skywalker Saga” applicable to the episodic films.
One must also wonder why John Boyega’s Finn is carrying a lightsaber. Is he a Jedi, or is he using the weapon out of necessity like Han Solo did in The Empire Strikes Back? Perhaps we will get some answers with the premiere of the final trailer tomorrow night during football.
Thanks to ComingSoon for the tip!
