The journey from THE FORCE AWAKENS to THE LAST JEDI will become clearer with a series of companion works, including three STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI lead-up novels.
At Star Wars Celebration Orlando, Lucasfilm announced the release of three new novels, a comic miniseries, and a collection of visual guides, young reader and craft books. This is not unlike the campaign launched to build hype for Star Wars: The Force Awakens – however, the Star Wars: The Last Jedi novels will include a completely new perspective: that of fan-favorite Captain Phasma of the Stormtroopers.
There will actually be two stories told from Captain Phasma’s point-of-view. The first, a comic miniseries, will reveal how she escaped from the trash compactor on Starkiller Base. The second, a full-length novel, will possibly detail how she joined the First Order and became commander of the Stormtrooper army.
The other two novels go back to the original main characters of the Star Wars franchise. Leia: Princess of Alderaan will center around our favorite princess-turned-general. Based on its title, this story will likely explore the culture of Alderaan and the life of a young Leia. Leia: Princess of Alderaan will tug at our heartstrings, given Carrie Fisher’s recent passing. The third novel is entitled The Legends of Luke Skywalker. It makes sense to include a story about Luke when everyone has a million questions after the Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer. Why does Luke think the Jedi need to end? Perhaps this book will give us a hint.
All three Star Wars: The Last Jedi novels, and all of the aforementioned books will be available to purchase this fall. To find more information about the books in the “Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi” campaign, go to StarWars.com.
