Stephenie Meyer ready to write again
UPDATE, 16:48 EDT, 7/19/15: Please note that this article was an April Fool’s Day joke, posted on 4/1/15. None of this is true and although there are short story films already in process, this has nothing to do with it.
It’s official! Stephenie Meyer announced that she’ll be renewing the Twilight Saga with a new trilogy! This time, it’s going to be a Twilight series sequel about Renesmee, Edward and Bella’s human-vampire hybrid daughter. According to a recent interview, Meyer has already written up the outline for the first book, but doesn’t plan on starting the actual writing process of the book until she’s finished with The Host trilogy, which she plans on doing later this year.
“I know that a lot of my fans have been waiting quite a long time for The Seeker to come out,” said Meyer. “Part of the reason was because of my duties as executive producer of Austenland, but the other part was because I still have been hesitant to go back to The Host world and having to maybe kill off some characters that I really loved in the first book. Plus, we’re currently in the pre-production stage of another movie I’m executive producer of.”
That movie being Down a Dark Hall, which is based on the gothic fiction book of the same name by Lois Duncan.
I have to admit I’m one of those people waiting for her to come back to writing and getting on The Seeker, and I’m a bit concerned about her tying herself to another movie instead of just writing a series that she started back in 2009. Especially if she wants to write about Renesmee and Jacob. This is what she had to say about it:
“Even so, a lot of things have happened in my personal life that has influenced how I’m progressing as a writer and a mother to my family, and although I will be busy in the near future, now is a good time to start writing again,” said Meyer. “I’ve spoken with the studio and they’ve made a way for me to spend more time at home for a while before production starts, and while I’m home, I’m committing at least four hours a day to writing. I have a renewed excitement for it and I have the outline all ready for The Seeker and The Soul.”
She has the outlines ready, but what about the Renesmee story?
“I have no doubt I’ll be able to finish those books within the next two years, even with the movie in production. After that, I’m going to focus on telling Renesmee’s story.”
When asked about whether it will be about Renesmee and Jacob, she only had this to say:
“We’re going to see how Renesmee has been dealing with all the changes in her body and her maturity, and we’re going to see how that affects her family. We may see some hints of romance, but from who, I can’t say right now. It’s still in outline form, so it could change a lot before I actually start writing about it.”
So, what do you think about that? Are you ready to go back to Forks and get reacquainted with the Cullens and the Blacks? I know I wouldn’t mind!
But alas, it’s very possible this could all be just a dream – April Fool’s Day!
