There’s something big coming to Stranger Things Season 3, but it’s not a demogorgon or a mind-flayer. It’s summer– and the season is basically guaranteed to be a character in itself this season, allowing audiences to see Hawkins, Indiana in a whole new light.
A new clip from the upcoming season shows summer in full swing at the local pool, but it also shows some town antics at work as a group of Hawkins moms, including Mike’s mother Karen Wheeler (Cara Buono).
Karen is just hanging out at the pool with a group of moms when their true reason for being there becomes very apparent: They get all sorts of flustered as the teen girl on shift leaves and Billy Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery) enters the scene.
Billy doesn’t seem to care about many people at the pool, but he gives his fan club, particularly Mrs. Wheeler, a little greeting. While Billy is 18, the whole thing feels a bit… squicky, but it pretty reminiscent of The Duffer Brothers’ 80s horror and suspense influences. Let’s just hope it doesn’t get too weird!
Stranger Things Season 3 drops on Netflix on July 4, 2019.
