As much as I love Supernatural, it still boggles my mind how successful this show has been this 8th season. To know that there are that are either new to the show or have returned to watching it is amazing.
If you asked most television viewers which television show’s Adults 18-49 ratings improved the most this television season, they’d probably guess sophomore sensation Scandal. Actually, when measured on the basis of percentage growth, that honor belongs to Supernatural, which grew 22 percent, as revealed in a fascinating chart on Vulture comparing the season-to-season ratings of all returning shows. For most series, it was bad news. Overall, 12 series, including Scandal, Parenthood and Grimm grew while more than 60 declined, with Touch falling the furthest (-64%).
Part of the reason that for this growth could likely be the move of the show from last season’s Friday airings to this season’s Wednesday airings. I know it helped me. So, what is interesting to me now, is that the people at The CW have decided to move Supernatural to Tuesday nights for Supernatural’s 9th season.
This, of course, to help debut series The Originals to find their audience, much like Supernatural did for Arrow, now a series in its own right. Of course, it’s always a gamble moving a successful series from one day to another, but since they’ve already done it before, it seems they see no reason not to try it again.
What do you think? Will you still be watching Supernatural when it moves to Tuesdays? Will you be watching the new lead-in show, The Originals?
