SPN - The Things They Carried - 02

Cole Trenton returns in “The Things They Carried”

Supernatural doesn’t return until next week, and when it does return with “The Things They Carried,” they’ll be bringing back Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean’s (Jensen Ackles) former human enemy, Cole Trenton (Travis Aaron Wade).  Well, at least we think he’s a former enemy.  To refresh your memory, it was earlier in the season that Cole had kidnapped Sam in order to lure Dean to him so that he could get vengeance for his father, who was killed by Dean when Cole was thirteen years old.

Luckily for Dean, Cole didn’t follow through with his vendetta and now it looks like we get to see what Cole has been up to lately, and from the images, it doesn’t look good.

COLE PAYS A VISIT TO THE WINCHESTERS — Despite Dean’s (Jensen Ackles) directive to forget about looking for a cure for the Mark of Cain, Sam (Jared Padalecki) continues to do research. Dean suspects Sam is hiding something but decides to focus on a new murder case where they run into Cole (guest star Travis Aaron Wade). The three team up and learn a Khan worm is infecting men and turning them into murderers. Unfortunately, the worm makes it’s way into Cole. John Badham directed this episode written by Jenny Klein.

For those of you Star Trek geeks, you might recall that in what is considered the best Star Trek movie from the original cast, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, two of the U.S.S. Enterprise’s crew is kidnapped by Khan’s crew.  A worm is inserted into each of them through their ears, which then controls their minds.

I’d bet a slice of pie that Dean is the one that coined the term for this murderous symbiote.

Supernatural returns to Wednesday nights at 9pm starting March 18th.
