SUPERNATURAL is back with one of the most unique episodes titled, “Baby”. This entire episode is shot from the inside of Sam and Dean’s 1967 Chevrolet Impala. They teased this episode back at SDCC and I’ve been so curious ever since. This episode sounds like it wouldn’t work, but surprise, it does and it’s a beautiful thing. Baby is it’s own character on the show and to see SUPERNATURAL give her her own episode is quite the treat. Okay, let’s talk about it…

We open this episode inside, you guessed it, the Baby aka Sam and Dean’s 1967 Chevrolet Impala. Like I said above, this entire episode takes place inside this car, making this one of the most unique episodes in SUPERNATURAL history. Every shot and angle is not even from the outside looking in, it’s from the inside looking out. Whether the camera is on Sam, Dean, or one of their “one night wonders”, it looks great and is just a cool idea that you can see they’re having fun with.
This episode focuses strongly on Sam and Dean’s brotherly bond. They’re laughing, having a good time, and enjoying themselves. Nothing can go weird, right? This is SUPERNATURAL though, so of course Sam starts having a vision/dream of sorts of his dad. His dad mentions the Darkness and how they can’t stop it. It’s very weird and it’s not really explained why it happened other than just being a very odd dream Sam has, but it does make you more curious as to what the Darkness will be up to in future episodes. 
“Baby” also follows the boys hunting down a monster. It reminds you of older episodes of SUPERNATURAL, which is why I think this episode will be a fan favorite of the season. They’re in the process of tracking down a “Werepire”, but soon learn that it’s something else, something very hard to stop… a Ghoulpire. It has an actual name, but Ghoulpire is what Dean named it, so we’ll stick with it. There’s this hilarious scene of Dean shooting one, a Sheriff, chopping off his head, and it still being alive. Of course all of this is shot from inside the car while Cass is on speaker phone. This whole scene was hilarious and I couldn’t stop laughing. (SUPERNATURAL is just the best.) Soon after, Dean saves a lady who then turns on him, knocks him out, steals Baby, and resurrects the Ghoulpire he’d just killed. They make note that Dean will be Sam’s first meal. Uh oh. Thankfully Dean win this fight, of course, before things could get too crazy. Also that lady that attacked Dean? She came back too, so everybody wins. Except that Sheriff. Yikes.
“Baby” proved to be the best of the season. It was fun and refreshing and really hit all those points it set out to do. It had so many brotherly moments, you couldn’t help but smile. This episode will forever be one of my favorites, I can already tell.
