Spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Supreme Leader Snoke Not Darth Plagueis

During a recent interview with EW motion-capture expert and actor Andy Serkis was told that there was lots of chatter that Snoke would turn out to be Darth Plagueis. Serkis, however, stated that it was not the case and that Snoke,

“turns out to be… just Snoke.”

“Supreme Leader Snoke is quite an enigmatic character, and strangely vulnerable at the same time as being quite powerful. Obviously he has a huge agenda. He has suffered a lot of damage. As I said, there is a strange vulnerability to him, which belies his true agenda, I suppose.”

Three new official images were released along with the interview, two of Snoke and one of quirky Maz Kanata.

Darth Plagueis was mentioned in the prequel series by Palpatine to Anakin. Palpatine said that Plagueis was his master and could control midi-chlorians, using the force, to control life. By doing this, he could stop people from dying. However, he was killed by Palpatine because of the Rule of Two.

The Rule of Two was created by Darth Bane after a war with the Jedi Order. As the sole Sith survivor of that war, Darth Bane believed that it was Sith infighting that caused them to fail. For this reason, the Rule of Two was created which said that there could be only two Sith at any one time a master to have the power and an apprentice to crave it.
