Shatter Me author TAHEREH MAFI was on Late Night with Seth Meyers and talked about writing with her husband.

It’s not often to see authors on television, let alone Young Adult authors, so it was really exciting to see one of our favorite authors, Tahereh Mafi, on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers. And she was awesome!

She appeared on the talk show last night and was the third guest for Seth. She was there to promote her middle grade book, Furthermore. Funnily enough, at the beginning of the show, Seth had mistakenly said that it was part of the Shatter Me series, but we’ll forgive him for that.

When she came out, the first thing he noted was her awesome boots, of course, because y’know Tahereh is the queen when it comes to amazing footwear. But he swiftly went to talk about her writing routine, especially when it came to writing alongside her husband, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children author Ransom Riggs.

Meyers also asked her about how she came about becoming an author and she went into the story of what she originally had planned her life for.  Watch below.

If Tahereh was nervous, she really didn’t show it, and we have to say that Seth was great in keeping her comfortable on stage. We can only assume how nerve-wracking it could be appearing on a major network show.

It also helps that Seth Meyers is a reader and a very intelligent one to boot, and he thinks on a similar level with writers of varying genres.

Although it is a late night talk show, we do hope that Meyers and the producers are willing to open Late Night up to more authors in the future, especially Young Adult. Now that Craig Ferguson retired, we need someone to take up that mantle and help promote reading.
