Tahereh Mafi’s SHATTER ME Series Coming To Television

Tahereh Mafi’s SHATTER ME is on its way to the small screen!

After years of rumors and rights sold back and forth, the SHATTER ME series is finally getting an on-screen adaptation!

The trilogy follows a teen girl with a deadly touch through a dark, militaristic dystopia in which the government hopes to tap into her powers for their own misgivings. The series was published between 2011 and 2014. Author Tahereh Mafi will be a Consulting Producer for the show, a position that few authors are granted in dealings with Hollywood.

The series rights have been sold to ABC Signature Studios, an off-shoot of ABC Television that specializes in producing series to be sold on other cable platforms. In the past, they’ve sold titles to USA Network, TBS, ABC Family, and Lifetime.

Movie rights to the film were previously sold, but ultimately the studio decided not to move forward with the project.

Tahereh Mafi says she can’t answer very many questions about the series yet, especially about casting, but chatted with a few YouTubers regarding the announcement:
