Just announced earlier today is that we now know who will be playing the lead role of Thomas in The Maze Runner Movie. Although he goes by the name of Stiles in MTV’s Teen Wolf, 21-year-old Dylan O’Brien may have to tone down on the sarcasm, or at least the constant joker attitude his MTV character tends to make for the more serious, darker tone of the Maze Runner storyline.
If you’ve seen Teen Wolf, then you’ll know that Dylan can play serious when the scene calls for it, and heartbreakingly so at times, so this role could be something really good for him to expand on that side more. As himself, he does have a playful attitude and fun to be around. Check out some of the pictures of him and co-star Tyler Posey from this year’s WonderCon after the jump:
Wes Ball is directing the sci-fi pic adapted from James Dashner’s novel trilogy, with a script by Noah Oppenheim, redrafted by Grant Myers and then T.S. Nowlin. Will Poulter, Kaya Scodelario, Aml Ameen, and Thomas Brodie-Sangster are also set for the pic which films in May in Baton Rouge ahead of a February 14, 2014 release date. O’Brien starred in last year’s Sundance pic The First Time and will next be seen in Fox’s June 7 comedy The Internship opposite Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn. He is repped by WME Entertainment, Principal LA and Attorney Jamie Feldman.
