Though we know it’s so much more than that, THE FAULT IN OUR STARS has been categorized as a romantic drama by Fandango. And two days before it’s release, TFIOS has already broken the pre-sale record for the genre!
Fandango didn’t give exact numbers on TFIOS’ success, but it beat out Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams’ 2012 romance THE VOW, which earned $41.2 million in pre-sales. Not bad, considering the film was projected to make $30 million this weekend!
Check out some stats of the pre-sale:
In a non-scientific survey, Fandango polled more than 1,000 ticket-buyers and found that 81% read the novel, 95% have been looking forward to a big-screen love story and 80% are planning to see the film with a group of friends.
Woodley, who starred in last spring’s “Divergent,” was cited as a motivating factor for buying a ticket by 64% of audience members.
