Did you see The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 this weekend? If so you helped make it the number one movie worldwide with an impressive global earnings number of $275 million! While this third installment of The Hunger Games was the franchises lowest opening weekend earner domestically, with early estimates at $123 million, compared to $152 million for 2012’s The Hunger Games and last year’s Catching Fire $158 million, it’s still a huge success!

Mockingjay also holds the title of having the highest grossing opening weekend in 2014, besting previous weekend record holder Transformers: Age of Extinction, and Guardians of the Galaxy, which is currently 2014’s number one film — time will tell if Mockingjay Part 1 will dethrone it entirely.
