The Maze Runner Sequel ‘The Scorch Trials’ Already in Pre-Production

The Scorch Trials

Wes Ball, Director of The Maze Runner, has revealed in an interview with Buzzfeed that the crew has already begun pre-production on the thriller sequel.

“We’ve got stages, we’ve got crews coming in, Dylan [O’Brien] will be back in a few weeks, we’re building sets, and the script is being written,”“It’s a bit of a race this time because we’re cautiously optimistic, but we’re feeling excited we’re about to do something that’s way more sophisticated, way more grown up, and really set up a saga here.”

With The Maze Runner out on the 19th of this month, they sure are optimistic about filming this sequel. In the wake of the success of some YA books, others that have been adapted from book-to-film didn’t have the same result. So why such ‘race in time’ for the sequel? Well, the positivity about the films success runs from the fact that the director and writers of the script deliberately left questions unanswered at the end, like the book does F.Y.I, so as to get the audience enthralled in the sequel.

Smart move film wizards.

The Maze Runner premieres September 19th.
