THE WALKING DEAD Casts Paul “Jesus” Monroe

Tom Payne will play the key role of Jesus on THE WALKING DEAD.

The Walking Dead has cast a pivotal character who stands as a sign of what’s to come in Season 6: Paul “Jesus” Monroe.

Tom Payne will play the new Alexandria resident who comes from the Hilltop Colony, expanding the universe to include the knowledge of several other survivor colonies in the area. He becomes an important advisor to Rick, thanks to his firm(er) grip on reality and a thirst for justice.

Jesus first appears in Issue 91 of the comics series and is deeply involved in the war between the Alexandria colony and the notorious villain Negan’s group, The Saviors, so this casting is a big hint that we’ll see that story play out on the show.

Tom Payne has previously had roles on HBO’s Luck, The Physician, and Winter, among other projects.
