Giveaway: Win THE WITCHLANDS Series By Susan Dennard

The Fandom is teaming up with Tor Teen to get you in the Halloween spirit with Susan Dennard‘s The Witchlands series!

The characters in the hit series, which was recently optioned for TV, may not be “witches” in the traditional sense, but many of them are born with specific magical abilities. Let’s break them down and we can all choose our power!! Some these types of “witchery” have pretty big subsets, but for clarity, let’s stick with the broader definitions.

Aetherwitch – You want to be a human lie detector? How about being able to SEE the lines of energy that indicate a person’s emotions and their connections to others? This form of witchery is all about human connection, but it can be a slippery slope.

Airwitch – You’d make for a great world traveler, because you can control and shift air currents or create and dismantle storms.

Earthwitch – You can control the physical elements linked to the Earth. These elements can take many forms, so there are lots of possibilities as to how you can use your powers.

Firewitch – Prepare for war, because your dangerous ability to control fire and create weapons using it will make you a coveted solider. However, you’re also a healer when the situation calls for it.

Waterwitch – Oceans, ice, or steam, all forms of water can be manipulated to suit your needs.

Voidwitch – So rare that you’re almost considered mythical, you’re among the “bad” witches whose powers could have dark implications. You can do things like sense, track, and control blood or take away another witch’s power, and that type of almighty power could go to anyone’s head.

Personally, I’d like to be involved in Aetherwitchery– specifically as a Threadwitch– because a deeper understanding to people and their connections would hopefully make me a more empathetic person, then I could use that to change the world for the better.

Do you still need to do more research before you decide your brand of witchery? You’re in luck! To celebrate the paperback release of Windwitch on October 16th, we’re giving away the first three novels in the series!

  1. “What type of witchery would you most like to possess and why?” Well, detecting the truth would be too depressing. I guess I’d say an Airwitch–it will be important to control storms in the future once global warming encircles the world in a giant, nonstop storm. And I’m not joking: that will happen, although it might be a thousand or more years away.
