This Wednesday, you’ll get a chance to see the first official trailer for the Divergent movie.
But let me first tell you what my thoughts were on it. And yes, if you’re wondering, I was one of a few that got a chance to see the trailer in advance just so that we can share our thoughts with the rest of you.
I’m not going to give away any details about what I saw, because that would be spoiling it for you and you don’t want that.
What I will say is that to me, quite a few of the scenes that were in the trailer looked familiar, because it was pretty similar to what I had already imagined when I was reading the book. I liked the feel of it and you will certainly notice the separation of the factions. If you’ve seen behind-the-scene photos during the filming, you’ll see how it gets pulled together in the trailer.
What’s exciting is that the scenes that they show are probably some that you’ve been looking forward to seeing, so that’ll excite you. I know I was thrilled to see one of my favorite scenes in the book make it in the trailer.
As for the actors playing the characters, especially Shailene Woodley as Tris, Theo James as Four, and Kate Winslet as Jeanine, I think they’ll make the characters their own and that you’ll be able to see them as those characters.
I like how they showed just enough to peak the interest of readers and non-readers of the book alike, without giving too much away. I felt that this trailer aimed to set it apart from other movie trailers on YA book-to-movie adaptations, and it did so just fine with this one.
I hope you all enjoy it when it comes out this Wednesday at 8:30am PST! Make sure to go to youtube.com/summitscreeningroom to watch then!
