Ransom Riggs’ debut novel Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is spooky, smart, and enchanting, so it’s no surprise that director Tim Burton signed on to lead the film adaptation starring Asa Butterfield and Eva Green. Now, we’re seeing the first photos from the movie thanks to EW and Empire!

Take your first look at Miss Peregrine, Miss Avocet, and the “peculiars” with strange powers who are in their care.

From Entertainment Weekly:

Asa Butterfield plays Jake, a 16-year-old plagued by nightmares following a family tragedy. On the advice of his therapist, the teen embarks on an overseas journey to find the abandoned orphanage where his late grandfather claims to have once lived. Not only does the place turn out to be real, it also serves as the gateway to an alternate realm where children with strange powers are looked after by a magical guardian (Penny Dreadful star Eva Green) and time moves of its own accord.

Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children

Miss Peregrine is always described as a spooky Mary Poppins and we think these photos are really catching that vibe well.

Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children hits theaters on September 30, 2016.
