Tim Burton To Direct Live-Action DUMBO Remake

Disney’s newest foray into live-action will be a DUMBO remake directed by Tim Burton.

Who saw that one coming?!

Disney is returning to live-action once again, but this time they’re taking on the little elephant that didn’t quite fit in. This new take on the classic will be directed by none other than Tim Burton, best known for his whimsical, eccentric films.

Burton’s take on the 1941 animated feature will reportedly expand Dumbo’s world and “add a unique family story that parallels Dumbo’s journey.” The film, based off a script by Ehren Kruger and set to be produced by Justin Springer, does not have a release date yet. Much like MALEFICIENT, we imagine this story will be pretty heavy on the CGI.

Burton is currently on the cusp of filming an original adaptation of Ransom Riggs’ MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN, but he is no stranger to remakes. He’s taken on new looks at PLANET OF THE APES, CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, and DARK SHADOWS. He also helmed 2010’s ALICE IN WONDERLAND film, which was more sequel than remake.
