It seems Julian Albert is no longer a dedicated member of Team Flash.

Actor Tom Felton made a splash outside the Harry Potter universe (where he’s best known as Draco Malfoy) when he joined Season 3 of DC superhero show The Flash as Julian Albert, Barry Allen’s prickly lab partner turned skeptical ally and love interest to Caitlin Snow. Unfortunately, Julian was a no-show in the show’s first Season 4 trailer and soon after, fans’ fears were confirmed.

EW was the first to announce that Tom Felton would not return for Season 4. The article notes that The CW has yet to announce that they’ve struck a deal to have Felton return for any episodes this season, as the network has with guest roles for their other superhero shows. They did, however, announce the return of another guest, Gypsy (Jessica Camacho) and a slew of new guest stars including Neil Sandilands as The Thinker, Kim Engelbrecht as The Mechanic, and Danny Trejo as Breacher.

Tom Felton recently finished filming twisty Hamlet re-imagining Ophelia starring Daisy Ridley, in which he plays Laertes.

Season 4 picks up several months after Barry enters the Speed Force, by which time Julian reportedly has left the team. Production is still underway, so there is potential for Felton and The CW to strike up a deal for Julian’s return later in the season but so far, nothing appears to be in place.
