Mik tames the stormhunters for Zuzu, DREAMS OF GODS AND MONSTERS (Daughter of Smoke & Bone #3) by Laini Taylor
A lot of book three of the Daughter of Smoke & Bone series is very lyrical and poetic, especially when it comes near the end. Dialogue can bring down the emotion that the author is trying to evoke, and this is one of those books that brings in much emotion.
In this scene, again, it’s the supporting characters that get to be the super romantic, super cute, and super normal couple, as compared to all the angels and chimeras that are at war. It’s a reprieve from the devastation and pain that is going on in their world, yet, they are still able to strive for love and to keep it. Zuzu has given her boyfriend Mik three seemingly impossible tasks in order for her to agree to marry him. Although it was done with a lot of jest, Mik apparently took it seriously. But, it seems, he took his relationship with Zuzu more seriously than she realized.
And it was official: Mik’s three fairy-tale tasks were accomplished. And the ring burning a hole in his pocket? The one that had seemed so crude in the light of the Royal Suite’s shining marble bathroom?
It happened to look just perfect on the stormhunter-back, with a northerly sea rolling beneath them, dotted with icebergs and breaching sea creatures that were not in any way whales. He couldn’t go down on one knee without risk of falling off, but that was entirely okay, under the circumstances. “Will you marry me?” he asked.
The answer was yes.
