Stephen Moyer, one of the stars of HBO’s hit series, True Blood, has been cast in Fox’s Marvel pilot.
The untitled pilot focuses on two parents who discover their children possess mutant abilities. Forced on the run from the government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.
Moyer will portray the father, Reed, and is described as an ambitious attorney trying to balance the demands of his job at the DA’s office with his responsibilities to his family. Blair Redford and Jamie Chung were recently cast as well.
The pilot episode was written by Matt Nix and directed by Bryan Singer. They, along with Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory are executive producing the project and will feature characters from the X-Men comics.
Moyer’s previous credits apart from True Blood include Fox’s limited series, Shots Fired, and FX’s period drama, The Bastard Executioner. He has just finished production on his first feature in the director’s chair, The Parting Glass.
