Veronica Roth Sells First Adult Book, THE CHOSEN ONE

THE CHOSEN ONE will follow what happens after the world is saved and everyone grows up!

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt has acquired the rights to Divergent series author Veronica Roth‘s first adult novel that’s a callback to the “teen savior” genre that made her famous!

The Chosen One, according to a recent press release, “tells the story of five friends who saved the world when they were teenagers, but now, as celebrity adults, must face even greater demons — and reconsider what it means to be a hero by destiny or by choice.”

“My books for young people tackle what it’s like to take on adult burdens for the first time,” Roth said, “but The Chosen One is about what comes after that —what a person does, and who they become, when they’ve spent their life preparing for something that’s already been accomplished.”

The novel is expected out in Spring 2020 and as of right now, it seems to be a standalone.
