red_queen_book_cover_a_pAs anticipated fans have heard there will be a Red Queen film. Squeel! So Epic Reads decided to sit down and have a chat with Victoria Aveyard. The discussion began with Aveyard talking about the adaption of her book into a film and stating that she was most excited to see Mare discover her powers. Aveyard continues the interview giving snippets of personal anecdote, such as sharing what she was doing when she found out that Red Queen would become a movie. Aveyard concludes her interview stating that she would love to see The Wrath and the Dawn by Renée Ahdieh be made into a movie. She stated that she “hasn’t seen any of that since the Prince of Persia.”

But before you watch the interview, here is some background information. Red Queen was published on February 10, 2015, but was optioned to be made into a movie with Universal in 2013. Aveyard presented her idea for Red Queen at Benderspink, which is a studio at University of Southern California, in 2012. There Universal and HarperCollins loved the idea. She then started writing the novel that year in May. And while Aveyard was writing the novel, Elizabeth Banks, aka Effie Trinket from The Hunger Games, and Pouya Shahbazian, producer of Divergent, were helping create the Red Queen Film.
