Warner Bros And MGM To Adapt THE SUN IS ALSO A STAR

Warner Bros and MGM have gained the rights to adapt YA novel THE SUN IS ALSO A STAR by Nicola Yoon to film.

Warner Bros studios and MGM have acquired the rights to adapt from book-to-film Nicola Yoon’s second YA novel The Sun Is Also A Star. It looks like the project has also acquired Tracy Oliver (Barbershop: The Next Cut and is currently working on Misty Copeland’s dance drama for 20th Century Fox Television)  to write the script and executive produce. Also, Les Morgenstein and Elysa Dutton will help produce the film.

The Sun Is Also A Star is Nicola Yoon’s second novel. The first being Everything Everything which was a YA favorite and also got the big screen treatment having been adapted as well by Warner Bros and MGM but is set to release on May 19th, 2017.

The new novel, a finalist for the 2016 National Book Award, has a timely premise: Two teens fall in love on one fateful day as she fights against her family’s deportation.

Warner Bros and MGM are not strangers to YA book-to-film adaptations. Together they have worked on adaptations for Jojo Moyes’ Me Before You and Gayle Forman’s If I Stay.

No news yet on casting or release date, but keep an eye out for more news.
