Cinema Sins doesn’t hold back on John Carter problems
John Carter should’ve been just the start of a great multi-movie franchise. However, unfortunately, it did not pan out that way, and Cinema Sins pretty much explains why in this “Everything Wrong with John Carter” video. Considering the length of the video, it’s pretty sinful. Luckily Edgar Rice Burroughs isn’t around any longer to see what they’ve done to his beloved story.
The movie starred Taylor Kitsch in the title role, Lynn Collins as the romantic interest Princess Dejah Thoris, and a pretty impressive supporting cast, including Willem Dafoe (The Fault in Our Stars), James Purefoy (The Following), Dominic West (The Affair), Thomas Haden Church (Spider-Man 3), Samantha Morton (Miss Julie), Ciaran Hinds (Game of Thrones), Mark Strong (Kingsman: The Secret Service), Jon Favreau (Iron Man), and even Friends’ David Schwimmer. Sadly, the fans weren’t there for him this time, or for anyone else, it seems.
Here’s the official John Carter synopsis:
A sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). John Carter is a war-weary, former military captain who’s inexplicably transported to Mars and reluctantly becomes embroiled in an epic conflict. It’s a world on the brink of collapse, and Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.
