Watch The First Trailer For MAXIMUM RIDE

Surprise! There’s a MAXIMUM RIDE movie out later this month!

If you’re a fan of James Patterson’s Maximum Ride and you’re shocked to hear that there’s a movie coming out at the end of this month… Well, there’s probably a reason for that!

Maximum Ride was announced as web series in summer 2014, but has quietly switched over to an indie movie format. It will be released in a small number of select theaters, but will mainly be released via Digital HD and via Video On Demand services.

The little-known adaptation was helmed by Tina Huang and produced by YouTube starlet Jenna Marbles. It stars a cast of relative unknowns including Allie Marie Evans as Max, Patrick Johnson as Fang, and Carrie Wampler as Ella Martinez, along with some pretty dubious CGI for the modern cinematic era.

What do we think? Is a low budget adaptation with little promotion better than no adaptation at all?

Maximum Ride hits Digital HD on August 30 and Video On Demand on September 30.
