Game of Thrones dragons highlighted in Pixomondo video
Everybody loves dragons. And the dragons on HBO’s Game of Thrones are no exception. In fact, they’re currently one of the biggest draws to the fantasy series. Hence, one of the many reasons Game of Thrones is such a popular show.
So, visual effects company Pixomondo has taken the opportunity to show us exactly how those beautiful but extremely dangerous creatures in Westeros are created. It’s a complex and often tedious process that includes layering upon layering upon layering colors and texture and images together to create not only the flying fire breathers, but the environment around it.
From last season, although Daenerys is the “Mother of Dragons”, even she cannot control the threat they pose as they grow bigger and more dangerous, even to her. Now that she is Queen in Meereen, the threat of her dragons to the people of her kingdom is immediate, and she sadly realizes that she cannot keep around.
Dani is able to chain lock up two of her dragons, Rhaegal and Viserion. However, Drogon, the largest and most aggressive of the three had not been seen for three days and thus was not imprisoned in the catacombs with his siblings. We await to see what becomes of him in the upcoming season.
Game of Thrones returns to HBO for its fifth season on April 12, 2015. There will be a special behind-the-scenes episode, called “A Day in the Life of Production”, that will air on HBO on February 8th at 7:30pm C.
