If you didn’t see the adaptation of Alexandra Bracken‘s popular YA novel The Darkest Minds in theaters, now is your time!
The film excited book readers but wasn’t exactly a box office draw, earning only $41 million in theaters worldwide. Still, home video releases bring in a whole new slew of viewers, and The Darkest Minds is available in Digital HD now with a Blu-ray release coming on October 30th.
Set in a near future dystopian America, the movie takes audiences through a world in which 98 percent of children were wiped out by a vicious plague and the 2 percent who survived have developed startling powers ranging from extreme intelligence to mind control. These children have been placed in cruel “camps” by the government, who fear their power. Ruby is an orange, hiding her abilities and tricking everyone into thinking she’s a green– until the day she has an opportunity to escape and search for the storied resistance in the outside world.
To celebrate, 20th Century Fox uploaded the first 10 minutes of the movie straight to YouTube (a common practice for the studio,) so fans can get a taste of what’s to come. Watch it at the top of the post.
